Tantric Star

In the Template there are two forms of this geometry. One with an embedded Prana Sphere (Octahedron) and one without.

At present I have only designed the geometry without the Prana Sphere, normally known as a Star Tetrahedron.

Other names for this Geometry

Stellated Prana Sphere i.e. Stellated Octahedron

Building a Star Tetrahedron

Basic Star Tetrahedron

Star Tetrahedron

You will need the following Connectors

  • 8 - Pyra Sphere Pipe Connectors
  • 2 - Cross Pipe Connectors (with vertical bolt holes)
  • 4 - Cross Pipe Connectors (with twisted bolt holes)

You will need the following pipes

  • 24 - Lengths of pipe of equal length

The Star Tetrahedron is normally shown with the inter-meshed Pyra Sphere's (Tetrahedron's) pointing up and down. However the vertexes of the Pyra Sphere's are effectively at the corners of a Terra Sphere i.e. a Cube (if you adjust your perspective on the geometry in question). It is easier to build this geometry with the base of one of these cube sides on the floor (see image below).

Star Tetrahedron lying on Prana Sphere side

N.B. putting the above geometry together can probably be performed in a number of ways. The following is the way I have been doing it. The instructions below, refer to the image directly above this sentence.

The Bolt holes at each end of the pipes have been cut to have the same alignment through the pipe. They are cut with a distance from the end of the pipe that will match the bolt holes in the vertexes when the pipe is slid onto the connector part of the vertex. So a bolt can go through both the pipe and vertex and hold them together.

The vertexes have specific orientations to align the bolt holes with the holes in the pipes (get this wrong and you will not be able to bolt this geometry together).

The Cross Pipe Connectors with vertical bolt holes are placed on the horizontal layers i.e. the base and top layers of the imagined Cube.

The Pyra Sphere Pipe Connectors should be connected the pipe connecting to the Cross Pipe Connector with vertical bolt holes in the following orientation :-

Above View Pyra Vertex Orientation Left  ...  Pyra Vertex Orientation Right View from end  Pyra Vertex Orientation End 1 Pyra Vertex Orientation End 1

N.B. the Pyra Sphere Pipe Connector can only be connected in one way to achieve the above orientation.

The Cross Pipe Connectors with twisted in bolt holes are placed on the vertical sides of the imagined Cube. They are placed in the following orientation horizontal (see image directly below) facing outwards from the geometry.

Cross Pipe Connector (with twisted bolt holes) Vertex

The remaining pipes are used to connect the Pyra Sphere Connectors to the Cross Pipe Connector with twisted bolt holes, as per the above image of the Star Tetrahedron lying on the imagined Cube face.

N.B. unless you print the vertexes to fit the pipe lengths very tightly, this geometry will come apart when you move it into the normal viewing position for a Star Tetrahedron (see images at top of this section). Therefore you need to bolt the pipe lengths to the vertexes to be able to move this geometry around.

Basic Star Tetrahedron with Supporting Struts

Star Tetrahedron with Supporting Struts

You will need the following Connectors

  • 5 - Pyra Sphere Pipe Connectors
  • 2 - Cross Pipe Connectors (with vertical bolt holes)
  • 4 - Cross Pipe Connectors (with twisted bolt holes)
  • 1 - Star Tetrahedron Pipe Connector with Strut Support Connector
  • 1 - Star Tetrahedron Pipe Connector with Strut Support Connector - Left Handed
  • 1 - Star Tetrahedron Pipe Connector with Strut Support Connector - Right Handed
  • 3 - Star Tetrahedron Base Support Connector

You will need the following pipes

  • 24 - Lengths of pipe of equal length
  • 3 - Supporting Struts of equal length

The following instructions need much improvement and clarification, which will be carried out at a later date.

The construction of the Star Tetrahedron with supporting struts is similar to the normal Star Tetrahedron, except that three of the PyraSphere pipe connectors are replaced with the Star Tetrahedron Connectors with Strut Support Connectors, as shown in the diagram below.

Notated Star Tetrahedron Star Tetrahedron with Supporting Struts

In our initial construction of the Star Tetrahedron with Supporting Struts, one person held the Star Tetrahedron with inter-meshed Pyra Sphere's (Tetrahedron's) pointing up and down, whilst another person adjusted the Star Tetrahedron Connectors with Strut Support Connectors to be in the correct position and orientation.

N.B. the Star Tetrahedron Connectors with Strut Support Connectors should have the Strut connector point down and the bolt holes should match the pipes holes exactly (The images below show the orientation of the Strut pipe connectors in relation to how they are connected to the pipes in the image above, which shows the relationship of the pipes and connectors).

Left Strut Connector  Front Strut Connector  Right Strut Connector

The length of the pipe for the Supporting Strut pipes was created by holding a pipe against the Strut connectors and the ground for a Star Tetrahedron with inter-meshed Pyra Sphere's (Tetrahedron's) pointing up and down and then cut to the appropriate length. The remaining two Supporting Strut pipes were cut to a matching length for the original Supporting Strut that was cut. This produced Supporting Struts that were of the correct length for holding the the Star Tetrahedron with inter-meshed Pyra Sphere's (Tetrahedron's) pointing up and down.

The Star Tetrahedron was setup with one person holding the Star Tetrahedron with inter-meshed Pyra Sphere's (Tetrahedron's) pointing up and down, whilst another person put the Supporting Struts and attached Star Tetrahedron Base Support Connectors in place.

N.B. it is possible to cut the Supporting Struts to be longer than the minimum length required to support the Star Tetrahedron on the ground, in which case it will float suspended in the air.
